Where do I get the audio file?
- Own the CD? Insert it and import it with the Music app (File → Import, or it offers to import automatically).
- Buy a download. The iTunes Store, Amazon Music, Qobuz, and 7digital sell DRM-free files you can drop here.
- Only have streaming? Switch to Browser tab audio, play the song in another tab, and capture it directly. Nothing is saved to disk.
- Have it on vinyl or tape? Record it through an audio interface with QuickTime Player (File → New Audio Recording) and drop the result here.
Play the song in another browser tab, then press Start capture and choose that tab. Tick Share tab audio in the picker. The audio is analyzed in memory and never written to disk.
Works in Chrome and Edge on this Mac. Safari cannot share tab audio.

Transcribing whistling from a record
- Load the file or capture the tab, then pick Spectral peak and the Whistle range. The analysis re-runs when you change detection settings.
- Set Analyze from / to around the whistled passage so the first note is a whistled one.
- Tap tempo along with the record, choose a swing feel, and use Bar 1 offset to put the first note on the right beat.
- Watch the pitch trace. If grey dots follow the melody, lower pitch clarity. If gold notes fragment, raise vibrato tolerance.
- Play Original or Both in the transport to hear the record against the transcription.
